Fundraising for KET at Ford RideLondon 2023

Fundraising for KET at Ford RideLondon 2023

KET is delighted that two of our supporters are raising money by cycling in the Ford RideLondon event on 28th May.  This year our two cyclists are serving personnel from 2nd Signal Regiment.

Sgt Richard Taylor: Richie (above right) joined the army in 2008 as a 16-year-old.  He joined the Royal Electrical Mechanical Engineers (REME) as a vehicle mechanic with deployments to Kenya, Canada and across Europe. He is a very keen athlete representing the REME at Rugby League and Rugby Union. With an additional love for the outdoors, as Rock Climbing, paddling and mountain bike instructor he is always looking for new challenges to push himself mentally and physically.  He volunteered to cycle in the Ford RideLondon event to push himself beyond his comfort zone! It will be the longest ride he has ever done, and he hopes to raise money and awareness for a good cause.  Thank you and good luck Richie!

Cpl Simon Hancock:  Simon (above left) joined the army in January 2007 as a 16-year-old junior soldier, then joined the Royal Electrical Mechanical Engineers (REME) as a vehicle mechanic. Whilst in the army he has deployed to Afghanistan 3 times, and to Kenya, Canada, Belize as well as to many parts of Europe. He is a keen cyclist: both road cycling and mountain biking for which he is an instructor. Volunteering to cycle in the Ford RideLondon event is a great way of helping the KET cause. Simon also enjoys the great outdoors, hill walking with his dog and paddle boarding with his wife (who enjoys laughing at him falling off!). He is married to Kirsty and they have 4 children.  Thank you for supporting KET and very good luck!
